Tom Oakes joined New Northwest Broadcasters in April 2004 as Operations Manager of New Northwest’s Billings, Montana stations. In December 2005, Tom transferred to Anchorage as Operations Manager, rising to General Manager in February 2006.

Tom began his broadcast career in 1975 while a student with the University of Wisconsin-Superior’s WSSU FM (now KUWS). In the time since, Tom has held on-air, programming and operations duties in various Midwestern markets including Duluth, Minnesota, Central Wisconsin, Madison, Milwaukee, Omaha and South Bend. In addition, Tom has been involved in station ownership and has served as a programming consultant. His format experience covers a wide variety including Country, Classic Rock, A/C, CHR, MOR-Big Band and, once upon a time, Beautiful Music.

In addition, Tom has served as a guest speaker at various universities, is a past board member and panelist at the Conclave, a Minneapolis-based non-profit broadcast convention held annually, is a member of both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music and is an active supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Memphis.
